Business Development Manager

General Description

This role presents an exciting opportunity to drive business growth, expand market presence, and manage strategic accounts for SJBP across the UK and EU. The Business Development Manager will act as a key commercial intermediary—bridging principals (suppliers/manufacturers) and buyers (distributors, retailers, importers)—to facilitate successful commercial transactions and build long-term partnerships across a wide range of product categories.


The position requires strong business acumen, a proactive approach to market development, and the capability to identify and capitalize on new opportunities that support SJBP’s strategic growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive business development and generate new sales opportunities and expand SJBP’s presence across the UK/EU.
  • Act as the commercial intermediary between suppliers/manufacturers and buyers.
  • Identify new product lines and supplier partnerships; develop strong buyer networks.
  • Prepare, implement, and achieve Annual Operating Plan (AOP) sales targets.
  • Lead AOP budgeting, pricing strategy, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Build, strengthen, and expand buyer      networks including distributors, retailers, importers, and other key      accounts.
  • Conduct regular client meetings and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Represent SJBP at trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events.
  • Manage CRM records, oversee market research, and track competitor intelligence.
  • Prepare financial reports (cash flow, expenditure, profitability) and ensure timely payment collections.
  • Execute marketing campaigns, product launches, digital promotions, and region-specific initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with UK/EU regulatory and commercial requirements.

Candidate Requirements

  • Relevant commercial experience in Business Development / Trading / Sales & Marketing.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain senior-level customer and supplier relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical and CRM skills.
  • Additional skill requirements may be discussed and finalized during the final interview and selection process
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable with senior stakeholders.
  • A relevant science degree coupled with MBA would be preferred OR an alternative degree with proven experience in BD/Sales/Trading.
  • Any Additional educational requirements, if applicable, may be determined at the time of final selection.

Compensation

SJBP offers Competitive salary + performance incentives based, maximum up to £60,000 per annum, based on experience.
